The Fourth Race Coming in StarCraft 2 Expansion?
When I talked to the different StarCraft 2 developers at Blizzard back in
March, I did actually get the little piece of information that they had been making concept art for a Fourth Race, but that it never came as far as ingame models. They had played with the thought, but felt that the energy would be more well spent in perfecting the three classic races of the
Protoss,
Terran and
Zerg.
On this topic,
Frank Pearce told VG247 that there might be a Fourth StarCraft II race added "in the event" of an expansion. Well, the chances of an expansion are good, I'd say...

We talked about the possibility of a fourth race early on, but we felt like we had a finite amount of great ideas and wanted to make sure we focused all the cool, best ideas on the existing three races rather than diluting those ideas across four races.
Well, since they were talking about it, but never came as far as 3D models, I wonder what this Fourth Race is?...
On an unrelated note that isn't worth its own news item, TVG has an interview with Frank as well that they will release later. The little
teaser snippet they released includes nothing new though:
- SC2 is ahead in production cycle of D3, and they "hope" it will be released before (obviously).
- They also "hope" it will be released before 2011 (obviously).
- Probably not a console game of SC2 (obviously).
- Blizzard will not be controlled by Activision (old news).
